# Privacy

The short version: what you type stays in your browser.

## What you type

Every tool works in your browser. Your child’s age, the features you tick, the checklist answers and the toy names you type are never sent to a server, and nothing is uploaded. The printable template is drawn in your browser too, and “Download SVG” saves it straight from the page.

## The recall search

The recall check builds ordinary links to the regulators’ own websites with your search words in them. Nothing is sent until you open one of those links; then the regulator’s site receives the search, exactly as if you had typed it there, under its own privacy policy. For the EU’s Safety Gate, the button copies your words to your clipboard instead.

## What is stored on your device

If you choose light or dark with the theme button, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the name `toyafterglow-theme`. Nothing else is stored, and the site does not use cookies. Choosing “Auto” removes the saved choice, and so does clearing your browser’s site data.

## Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it never receives what you type into the tools. There are no ads and no other trackers.

## Links and hosting

Links to other sites, such as the sources, the recall databases and the two recommended services, take you to sites with their own privacy policies. The pages are served by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, handles the network requests your browser makes to load them. The fonts and scripts come from this site, not from third parties.
